Burning Man in La Pine
Little oddities are strewn all over the landscape. You just gotta look close.
Take for instance this sculpture of a man, carved out of a burnt tree, by no doubt some chainsaw-wielding homo sapiens.
It sits all alone, alongside a well-travelled road, leading from HWY 97 to Paulina Lake in northern La Pine. I probably drove by it tens of times before, one sunny day, I suddenly saw it amongst the lightly-treed forest. I hit the brakes instantly.
It is odd, kinda creepy, and amazing - all at the same time. And the one question that arises is - who would bother?
