Bio

Born and raised in Switzerland, Simone got into photography when she was 16, on her first solo (without parents) trip through Europe. Her older sister had graciously donated an ancient SLR Minolta camera, and seeing the world through that small rectangle of a viewfinder somehow forever changed things.

After finishing her Bachelor's degree in Business, she did stints in Oxford, England, and Antigua, Guatemala, to get an in-depth education in English and Spanish - mostly though it was a feeble excuse to leave the Continent and see new cultures. That one time she jumped off a 330 foot bridge in France, only attached to a frayed bungy cord, however had less to do with her thirst for education and a tad more with that quest for adrenaline.

Later, she captured Italy, Spain, Greece, France, England, and the U.S. with that camera - until it suffered a tragically wet death during a torrential rain storm in a whitewater rafting camp in West Virginia.

Ever since that summer, a Canon (SLR or digital) has been her faithful and trusty companion, accompanying her on adventures to exciting places all over the world, including a turbulent sailing trip from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas during which she determined that ginger does not work as treatment for seasickness.

After moving to the Bay Area in 1992, she spent 4 solid years, innovating and leading the online grassroots marketing and PR efforts at a tech book publishing company, which has left her to this day a firm believer in technology, blogs, and social networking. In 2002, she came to Bend, Oregon, fell in love with the area and a gorgeous property with river front and mountain views, and ended up moving here.

That year, she decided to take the plunge and go pro with her photography. She never once looked back. She loves what she does.

Today, she is fully committed to bringing only the most stunning imagery to her clients - in the fields of architectural, product, food and editorial portraiture.

Based in Bend, OR, Simone Paddock is a photographer in pursuit of photographing all the things that make life worthwhile: soaring architecture, sumptious foods, cool objects, and interesting people. She has a reputation for being incredibly organized, detail-oriented and thorough - yet her photographs are rich, warm, vibrant and alive.

Clients who hire Simone range from architects, builders, interior designers and all the associated trades, to magazines, retailers, restaurants, caterers, fitness instructors and ad agencies.

While being a diverse bunch, they have one thing in common: they will tell you how happy they were with Simone's work, and how fun and easy she made it to get exactly the shots they wanted.

She has created imagery for commercial clients like BBT Architects, Ruffwear, The Blacksmith Restaurant, Deschutes Brewery, Volcano Vineyards, and Bebop Biscotti. Editorially, she's worked with Time Magazine, Bend Living, Log Home Design Ideas, and Oregon Business, amongst many. Some of them consider her family. Time Magazine considers her their Central Oregon go-to-shooter. Here's what they say about her.

When she is not running around with a camera, she may do some location scouting for movies like "Twilight" or write feature articles on food photography, architecture and lifestyle. She also keeps a blog of photo-related news and musings.

At home, she is the loyal servant of her cat, tries to be a casual gourmet, and has become an expert at picking movies. She will also do just about anything to put another museum on her list of visited places - even if she has to go to foreign or exotic places.
